Tsunami di Jepun telah meranapkan hutan pokok pine yang berjumlah kira-kira 70,000 batang.Dalam ribuan pokok ajaibnya hanya satu sahaja pokok yang bertahan dari ombak Tsunami ini.Namun akhinya mati juga..hakisan tanah di bahagian akar membuat ia reput dan tumbang.Sebagai peringatan ditempat asal pokok ini dibina pokok yang hampir sama..dengan modal $1.5 juta usd..
"Miracle Pine" Tree Reconstructed as a Memorial Sculpture to the Japanese Tsunami.
RIKUZENTAKA – As the second anniversary of the devastating March 11 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami passes, one of the icons of Japan’s resilience is about to be unveiled in sculpture form.
Rikuzentaka, a town of 23,000 known for oyster farming, was one of the worst hit by the natural disaster, with images of the flattened town appearing in news media around the world. Around 80 per cent of 8,000 homes were reported to have been washed away.
On its coast, the two kilometer-long shoreline of Takata-matsubara, home to 70,000 pine trees, was formerly a designated Place of Scenic Beauty. But after the tsunami, just one lone tree, 27 meters high and 200 years old, remained standing.
The project, which cost a reported 150,000,000 yen ($USD 1.5 million) immediately drew criticism as a misuse of donated funds.
