Karangan My Childhood Bongkar Pelajar Dirogoll-An innocent writing assignment for students to describe their lives turned into a matter for police.
When a 15-year-old student in Songkhla province described in her “My Childhood” essay a horrific story of sexual abuse, her teacher took her to the police.
The student, whose identity is being protected, wrote that she has been raped by her neighbor since her parents died when she was 9.
The girl reportedly has lived on her own ever since with the help of the neighbor, according to a statement from police Friday.
In the essay, the girl wrote that she was raped when too young to know what sex was. Her innocence was taken and replaced with agony that has haunted her ever since.
The 46-year-old neighbor, who works as a rubber tapper, told police the sex was consensual, and that their “relationship” did not start when she was 9. He accused the girl of mispresenting the situation because he’d stopped giving her money for school.
The arrest warrant for the suspect was approved by a court on Sept. 16. He has been charged with raping a minor under 13.
Meanwhile, the victim has been cared for by the Songkhla Emergency Home, a foundation which helps rape victims and women with unplanned pregnancies, Thairath reported.
